Define Love. What are the Different Kinds of Love?
Love is a feeling of strong affection towards someone; it is a complex set of behaviors, emotions, and beliefs. We often confuse love with love; a study recently showed there is nothing like love at first sight rather it is lust.
There are different kinds of love:
1. EROS LOVEIt is also known as erotic love. The name ‘Eros’ is borrowed from the Greek god of sexual desire and love. This kind of love mainly focuses on the body appearances and sexual desires towards someone. This kind of love is very dangerous as it toys around with people’s feelings. This love is all about physical appearances.
2. PHILIA LOVEPhilia represents platonic love; it is also referred to as brotherly love. This kind of love shows sincere affection to other people without being attracted to them by their sexual or physical appearances. This kind of love is usually experienced between siblings and friends. Philia love was more cherished by the Greeks than Eros love.
3. LUDUS LOVEThe ludus type of love that includes a lot of flirting and teasing. It mostly experienced by couples in the honeymoon stage of their relationship. Ludus love is also known as playful love as one is very playful with the other person. Ludus is the advanced form of eros love as one is sexually attracted to the partner. This love is often engineered by emotions.
4. MANIA LOVEMania love is also referred to as obsessive love; it leads one to be obsessive towards another person. The people who experience this kind of love often lack self esteem, and tend to want someone who gives them attention so as to feel valued. This type of love is an imbalance between eros love and ludus love. This love is all about survival instincts.
5. STORGE LOVE
This kind of love is also referred to as familiar love. It is often experienced between people who you are familiar with; such as family members and childhood friends. Storge love doesn’t require one to be physically or sexually attracted to someone. This feeling of attraction is bond by memories.
6. PRAGMA LOVEPragma love is also referred to as enduring love. This type of love requires time as it grows over time; it is mature love. This is love between people who have learnt to do anything for their relationship to work; it involves overcoming all things that are meant to break a relationship. This love is unconscious.

7. PHILLAUTIA LOVE
Most people say there is no way that you can love someone if you don’t love yourself. Phillautia love is also referred to as self love; as it deals with one pampering himself/herself. This love is engineered by the soul.
8. AGAPE LOVEThe agape love is also referred to as selfness or unconditional love. This is love that one gives without thinking about the shortcomings of someone. The best example of agape love is the love God has for us. This love is catalyzed by a spirit.
